Attributes of God.

Communicable Attributes of God. (Ephesians 5:1-2)

- Rationality
- Love
- Mercy
- Justice

Incommunicable Attributes of God. (Those attributes which cannot be bestowed upon a creature.)

· Immutability   (James 1:17) [not to be confused with immobility]
· Eternality        (Hebrews 13:8)
· Omnipotence   (Luke 1:37) [not to be confused with God’s inability to do nonsense]
· Infinitude         ( 1 Kings 8:27, Psalms 147:5)

God is a simple Being. (God is not made up of parts.) [Deuteronomy 6:4]

God is His attributes in that He has not had those attributes attributed to Him.

No creature can possess an incommunicable attribute of God.  (Hebrews 1:3-9)

We are human beings. (Contingent beings.) [Acts 17:28 `For in him we live and move and have our being.']

God is the Supreme Being. (Necessary Being) [Revelation 4:11 "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." ]

God is not an effect which requires a cause. (Therefore God must be immutable and eternal.)

God is self-existent. God, and God alone has the power of Being in and of Himself.

Self-creation is nonsense.

We can live eternally going forward, but we cannot receive eternality retroactively.

Immutability goes with eternality in respect to what He is and who He is, therefore He is incapable of mutation. (We are creatures born in space and time, we have beginnings, we are mutable.)

There can be only one infinite being. [Isaiah 43:10 Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.]
