House Education Committee
Meeting to Consider HB 2560
October 23, 2002
CANCELED UNTIL AFTER THE ELECTIONS!
We will post more info as soon as it is available!
The House Education Committee has officially scheduled House Bill 2560 for consideration on October 23, only one week from today. It is our understanding that a vote will be taken by the Committee at this time. There continues to be some discussion of amendments, but the overwhelming majority of homeschoolers (85-90%) have expressed their support for HB 2560 as it is written, with the exception of friendly editorial amendments supported by the prime sponsor, Rep. Sam Rohrer.
The prayers, phone calls, letters and visits from the grassroots lobby since September 28 have definitely made an impact! Please continue to politely remind all of the Reps. on the HEC during this final week that they represent you even if you are not in their district, and that you expect your Rep. to have an opportunity to vote on HB 2560 in the full House before the end of the session.
The meeting is scheduled for 9:30 AM in Room 205 of the Matthew J. Ryan Legislative Office Building , within the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg. Although the meeting room is small, with seating for only 35-45 people, it is important that as many as possible be there dressed in RED . The legislators need to be reminded of the RED SEA of support for HB 2560 one last time before they cast their vote. An overflow crowd would be a great way to let them know that we are standing firm!
IMPORTANT NOTE: New security measures have recently been implemented throughout the Capitol Complex. Please read the security tips if you are planning to attend. In addition, please note that visitor entrances are now limited, which may result in delays entering the building. We suggest you arrive by 8:30 AM. Check the web site during the week ahead for any late breaking updates!
