The Capitol in Harrisburg, PA
PA Capitol Rotunda

The grand staircase in the Capitol Rotunda leads to the Legislative chambers, the House on the right and the Senate on the left. The spectacular dome, modeled after the great dome of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome, rises 272 feet from the ground and weighs 52 million pounds. The rotunda serves Pennsylvanians as a popular public forum, providing a magnificent and symbolic setting for many types of gatherings, from rallies and the signing of bills to news conferences and concerts.

Maps of Harrisburg and Capitol Complex with nearby Parking

The primary parking is the Walnut Street Garage and the Chestnut Street Garage. They do not accept motor homes. I cannot think off hand where a motorhome could park, but there are many places they can stay overnight. There is a Wal-mart at 6535 Grayson Road off of Rt 322.  That is on the East side of Harrisburg, about 10-15 minutes (not rush hour) to the capital.

Walnut and Chestnut Street Garages have a height limit of approx 6'6", but only cars and trucks are allowed. The daily rate by hours: $12.00 for 5-11 hours;  $15.00 for 11-24 hours.

If you visit the Whitaker Center you can get your parking pass validated for the Walnut Street Garage for $3.00 for the whole day. Whitaker is located in the 200 block of Market Street, within walking distance of the Capitol Complex.
