Our Family
           "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother
     and be joined to his wife,
    and they shall become one flesh."
     Genesis 2:24

     "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord..."
     Psalm 127:3




      A husband and wife is the smallest family unit. Children are a welcome addition, yes even a "gift" from the Lord. A family, though, begins with two becoming one. For some this is the only family God will give. Others may be blessed with few or many children, through natural childbirth or a "labor" of a different kind - adoption. Adoption has touched our family and God has given us two gifts, a daughter named Bethany and a son named Nathanael.

      Bethany was a little town on the outskirts of Jerusalem to the east. It was one place where the Lord Jesus was always welcomed while He walked on earth - a place where a few who really loved Him were able to serve Him and have fellowship with Him. (John 12:1-3) What a joy that must have been to our Lord Who was so often rejected! Our prayer for our daughter Bethany is that she, too, would walk in fellowship with her Lord and grow each day for His glory.

      Nathanael literally means "gift of God". He was one of the 12 disciples (identical to Bartholomew), and also according to the Lord, "an Israelite, indeed, in whom is no deceit!" (John 1:47) We pray that Nathanael's life will be lived in honesty before God and man and that he will hear the Lord say, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord." (Matthew 25:23) What will the Lord say to each of us at the end of our journey?
