The Evolutionist's Family Tree

If you were to trace your history
Back across time's span,
Eventually you would come
To the first woman and man.

But according to evolution,
Further down your family tree,
You'd find you had grandparents
Of the monkey variety.

Tracing your roots backwards,
Eons for goodness sake,
You'd find reptilian "forefathers;"
Perhaps they were even snakes!

And on a more distant root,
As if it were a log,
Was a very amphibious ancestor;
Your great, great grandmother the frog.

Taking a leap backwards,
You'd find, to me, a tasty dish;
Though it sounds pretty fishy,
Some of your kinfolk were fish.

Then to end at the beginning,
You'd find that you had come,
From a complex little form of life;
   But…
Where did it come from?

"And God created the great sea monsters,
and every living Creature that moves, with which the waters
swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after it's kind…
And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and
everything that creeps on the ground after it's kind…
And God created man…"
