I was very sad this morning, so
in my stall I lay.
I had heard the terrible rumor
this was sacrifice day.
I thought of the sunny meadows,
playing with my lamb friends.
"Why was it that I had to die,
for the sins of men?"
Then my mother leaped up to me.
She said, "I have good news!
They’re sacrificing another Lamb,
His name is King-of-the-Jews."
Well I had never heard of Him,
so Him I wanted to see.
With strange confusion all around,
I slipped away easily.
As I reached the place of sacrifice,
it surprised me what I saw.
The One they called ‘The Lamb of
God,’ was not a lamb at all.
It was a man they sacrificed, suffering
so much pain.
But unlike any lamb I knew He seemed
willing to be slain.
Some don’t seem to appreciate the
suffering He went through.
I’d like to tell King-of-the-Jews,
that I certainly do!
You see, I’m just a little lamb
and my worth is very small.
But He spared my life by His sacrifice,
for sin once and for all.
"For
Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for
the
unjust, in order that He might bring us to God."
