Walking along our daily path,
Traveling this life through,
There are stripes all around
We seldom pay attention to.
Stripes upon the road,
White
clouds stripe the sky,
Stripes upon pajamas,
Coats, shirts, and ties.
Stripes upon our nation’s flag,
And cars of every type;
Even some animals like
Tigers and zebras have stripes.
But these stripes, we can't feel
But by our sight perceive;
How very different were the stripes
That Jesus once received!
The stripes upon His back
He couldn't see, but did feel;
The tears that filled His eyes
Were proof that they were real.
These stripes unto His death,
He endured for you and me;
But, as we search our hearts
Do His stripes we really
see?
So as you notice stripes today
Take a moment to be still,
And meditate upon the One
By whose stripes you were healed.
"But he was wounded for our
transgressions, he was bruised
for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace
was upon him;
and with his stripes we are
healed."
Isaiah 53:5
