A man who was spiritually blind
Stood beside “Religion Street,”
Begging for religious alms
From the people he would meet.
He found that most would offer
Opinions about religion for free;
But, being so many, he wondered,
If the truth he’d ever see.
He heard about the Hindu god, Brahma,
And also one called Vishnu;
And was told that, “We all are gods”
By a New Age guru.
One man followed Buddha’s teachings,
The Muslim believed in Allah,
One man worshiped the moon,
And another the sun-god, Ra.
A certain young man he met,
Said he put his faith in chance;
He mocked, “I have a god,
His name is happenstance.”
The blind man yearned for the truth;
Such anguish he began to feel!
With so many different beliefs,
How could he know what’s real?
He cried from the depth of his heart,
“God,
reveal yourself to me!”
As the Holy Spirit opened his "eyes,"
Jesus he
could see!
“For God, who said, "Light shall shine out
of darkness,"
is the One who has shone in our hearts
to give the light of
the knowledge of the glory of God
in the face of Christ.”
