The Good News The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Through the Serpent's (Satan's) “strike” in the garden of Eden (see Genesis chapter 3), sin has been passed on like a deadly venom and has brought death to everyone. The fact that everyone has been affected by it is stated plainly in God's word. Romans 5:12 says, "Through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned." If we imagine sin to be like a deadly venom, then the only way to be healed from it is with the proper anti-venom, and that anti-venom is the perfect work of Jesus Christ.
Here is the good news. Hebrews 2:14-15 tells us that Jesus took on flesh and blood so “that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.” Our sin, which would otherwise destroy us (Romans 6:23), Jesus (God the Son) took upon himself (1 Peter 2:24) as He died in the place of sinful mankind, offering His own life as a substitute for all who will come to Him. But that wasn’t the end, Jesus then arose from the grave, defeating death (and Satan) through the power of His resurrection!
As you are reading this today, know that according to God's word you also have been affected by Satan's "strike." At this point in your life you are either on your way to Heaven because you have called upon Jesus and are trusting in Him to save you, or you are still dead in your trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1; Colossians 2:13) and are on your way to being separated from God forever (Hell). If you haven't already given your life to Jesus, you can by calling upon Him, asking Him to forgive you of your sins and then entrusting your life to Him as your Lord and Savior; you will then have eternal life in Him. He has given us this promise in Romans 6:8-10, “Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.”
